Food safety is critical for us at Basnett Farms. We undergo annual training to ensure we are following the most recent and education-backed methods in regard to food safety.
From sowing, growing, harvest, and post-harvest, we adhere to strict policies to guarantee we are not spreading pathogens.
- Handwashing and glove application prior to handling crops
- No pets allowed in crop areas
- Treating seeds with disinfectant prior to sowing
- Disinfecting schedule for any item that touches the crops
- When we are sick, we don't work
- Water is evaluated constantly
- Employee training
- When crops are washed, we wash them with a disinfectant
- We never sell damaged /contaminated crops
- Constant evaluation of neighbors’ land use and operations
- Any soil / soil amendments allowed in our facilities follow the USDA recommendations for food safety.
